Albany Electrical Contractors Association (AECA) was incorporated in 1938 as the Albany, New York regional chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). NECA, itself, was founded in 1901 to promote the interests of qualified electrical contractors for the benefit of the customers and the public that they serve. AECA was founded to unite the electrical contractors of the Albany, New York Capital region so as to give them one combined voice both locally and at the national association level as well as to promote and support the mission of NECA in this area.

AECA currently enjoys a solid membership comprising a majority of the electrical contractors in the area. On behalf of its members, AECA represents them at many levels including local and state government representation, union negotiations and labor disputation.

Who is NECA?

NECA is the leader in the establishment of superior workforce training and management education for the industry, in setting the standards for electrical installation and in delivering cooperative partnerships with its clients to insure the highest quality installations and best value for its customers.

The National Electrical Contractors Association is a national trade association that serves the electrical construction industry. NECAs members provide services that include:

  • business management
  • education
  • public relations
  • market training
  • technical information
  • research and development
  • communications
  • labor relations
  • insurance programs
  • safety programs and construction industry leadership

While most contractors do not have the resources to achieve this wide range of services individually, it can be accomplished through NECA because of the collective efforts of all its members.

NECA's commitment to excellence in the work force is vital to their leadership of the electrical construction industry. Apprentices are required to complete 8000 hours of -on-the-job training and 1000 hours of classroom instruction in a nationally recognized curriculum -- making them the best-trained workers in the electrical industry!

The first line of help in labor relations is any of the 118 chapter managers who are trained in dealing with labor relations. They can help improve labor management education, resolve conflicts, and promote sales and customer relations. When you demand professional management, technical expertise, high quality installations and the best value for your money, you count on a NECA contractor!
